Stable

On Monday (18th), Left Hand Red went all the way to Tunbridge Wells to play at the Stable VI battle-of-the-bands competition. The competition takes place every Monday between August and January, with three bands taking part in each round, and the audience voting for their first and second favourite.

We placed second of the three bands, which we think was a real achievement since we only took 5 people with us (plus a couple of MySpacers—thanks!)! The winners on the night were the first band on, DeMode, who brought a big gathering (most of whom left before The Suits hit the stage). Perhaps the organisers should think about restricting voting until after the last band to make things a little fairer!

It doesn’t end there, though. The third and fifth songs from each band are recorded, and sent to a panel. The six bands the panel judge to be the best also qualify for the final, which takes place in July. Fingers crossed!

We were really pleased with the set, and obviously won over a lot of fans with moshing galore, and an encore that capped the set brilliantly.

Werderein from MySpace, who was at the gig, said:

F’kin well done lads…
That was a wicked performance you put on last night i thought you by far the best band for ages i have seen live anyways…. Keep going if you play like you did last night should be up there with the best in no time at all well done again…

Cigarette Burn from MySpace also said:

Tunbridge what? What of the bands? there was no battle there, it was a massacre and the red were at the top of the hill

The set was:

  • Clockwork
  • Gold Digger
  • Voyeur (recorded)
  • Against the Grain
  • Midnight Sun (recorded)
  • On the Sofa (encore)

LHR’s Sunday Session

Left Hand Red will be playing at the Walkabout on West Street, Brighton as headliners of Backbeat Records‘ Sunday Session on Sunday 10th September, which is bass player Baz’s 25th birthday! Come along and have a bit of birthday jelly and ice cream.

Also playing are The Wasp Factory and Laura Jane Kauffman. The festivities should begin around 8:00pm, and entry is free!

While we’re here, thanks to all of you who joined us at the Pressure Point last month. It was good to get back in to the swing of things after our spell away from the stage, and we hope you liked new song Voyeur, which got its debut that night and certainly brought about a big cheer. Now all we need is for Dan to remember the words for See It Coming—just because loads of people are singing along, that’s no reason to stop yourself!
