LHR at the Beachdown Festival

Left Hand Red have been added to the line-up of bands playing at Brighton’s Beachdown Festival, which takes place on Devil’s Dyke this Summer Bank Holiday weekend (22nd — 25th August). They join esteemed company like Fun Lovin’ Criminals, The Magic Numbers and Gogol Bordello, as well as other Brighton bands you may have heard of like Restlesslist, The Splendour and Doll and the Kicks.

As well as the festival, August also sees Left Hand Red return to the Coalition for Totally Unsigned (August 8th) and The Prince Albert (August 20th). Oh, and did someone mention a Wedding…?

Left Hand Red at the Brighton Coalition

Left Hand Red play the recently opened Brighton Coalition this evening (Friday 25th April) for Feedback X, supported by Totally Unsigned.

Tickets are £5 or £4 for NUS cardholders, and it all starts at 19:00, so get down their early if you want to catch all the bands.

Brighton Coalition is a new venue opened in place of the Beach (Kings Road Arches, right on the seafront). Opened as a venue/club/bar, it has a 680 capacity and hosts regular Rough Trade unsigned nights.

The line-up is as follows:

Juicy Radio

Left Hand Red make their first live radio appearance this evening. They will be appearing on the Damo and Ace Show on Brighton’s Juice at 20:00 to play their new demo, perform a live acoustic song and generally talk nonsense.

You can listen on your good, ol’ fashioned wireless on 107.2FM, on DAB or streaming over the interwebs.

Spring Gigs

If you missed our headline slot at the Pressure Point on Saturday (22nd), our first featuring super-sub drummer, Dan O’Driscoll, fear not.

We have a bunch of spring gigs lined up, including a slot at the legendary Water Rats theatre in London and a Friday night outing at Brighton’s new Coalition venue (formerly The Beach). It all kicks off with a Cable Club headliner at the Prince Albert on Tuesday the 8th.

  • Tuesday, 8th April — The Prince Albert, Brighton
  • Friday, 25th April — The Coalition, Brighton
  • Saturday 3rd May — Water Rats Theatre, London

Rock Riot the Third — Friday 8th February

Rock Riot is back this Friday, this time causing a nuisance at the Pressure Point on Richmond Place, Brighton.

The line-up features Left Hand Red as headliners, with Paris Bianco and Arty Karate as evil sidekicks. Doors open at 8pm, and entry is £5. Get yourself down early, and you might even bag a free CD.

Rock Riot is a recurring event held in no particular regularity by Left Hand Red and their closest associates. Each event has featured hand-picked bands to ensure no daft haircut-wielding, rock-by-numbers poseurs, with Left Hand Red headlining to bring the evening to a raucous finish.

Prince Albert — 22nd January

Happy New Year!

We’re pleased to announce our first gig of 2008, and it’s a big one. The Cable Club have started up a sister show at The Prince Albert on Trafalgar Street, Brighton, and they asked us to headline! We couldn’t really say “no”, could we? Not only do you get us headlining, but also playing are 4 or 5 Magicians and Lost Cosmonaut!

As the icing on the bun, Phil Jackson of Southern Counties Radio and Sean Cread of Radio Reverb will be playing tracks by local unsigned bands downstairs to set the mood for the ensuing mayhem.

Sweet.

Freebutt tickets now available

You can now get tickets for Left Hand Red’s Voyeur launch party, which takes place on Wednesday 14th November. Everyone who comes and announces themselves gets a free copy of the new demo!
